Completed garage roof and new roller door in Gosforth.

The situation

The garage had been unused for more than ten years, and the customer wanted to make it usable again. This was a garage refurbishment, not a full room conversion.

The existing felt roof had been leaking for around six years, and the garage had become damp. The timber window had deteriorated and the old metal up-and-over garage door was rusting.

What CSM did

The customer had discussed pulling the garage down. Instead, CSM stripped the existing roof back to the deck and installed an EPDM covering. The work also included replacing the garage roofline, fitting a replacement window, installing new electrics and fitting a black electric roller shutter.

A particular challenge

There was no separate internal access door into the garage. Because there was no secondary access, the roller shutter was fitted with an external manual override. It also had a safety edge.

The result

After the work, the garage was intended for storage and exercise equipment.
